Linen is the fabric that has quietly defined every great summer wardrobe. It breathes, it drapes, and it gets better with every wash. The right linen piece — a wide-leg trouser, a relaxed shirt, a slip dress — works as well at noon on a Mediterranean balcony as it does at sunset in your own city.
Three ways we are styling linen this season
1. The off-duty look. Cropped linen trousers, a fitted cotton tank, leather sandals. Add a lightweight scarf if you are headed for a coastal evening.
2. The polished version. A linen blazer over a silk camisole and tailored shorts. Works for office days when the temperature climbs above 25 degrees.
3. The dinner-and-drinks edit. A long, slip-style linen dress in olive or sand. Add gold jewellery and you have a complete evening look without trying.
Caring for your linen
Wash on a cool cycle, hang to dry, and iron only if you want to. Linen creases are part of the fabric's character — they are not a flaw.
